Shopping II

Today I had a very important interview for an internship at Flaunt Magazine, which I was very worried I wouldn't get at first because I hadn't replied to the e-mail I got in a timely manner. But I made sure to call the guy Associate Fashion director early in the morning and he set me up for a 1:00 interview. I wanted to look professional but not too serious and rigid. I decided on a slim fit pair of slacks and a grey silk cotton sweater, with a tie. . .O yes I was serious about this. The interview could not have been more different than what I went through at American Apparel where the menacing british women towered over me criticizing all that I stood on(resume and cover letter).  The guy I talked to was very personable and welcoming. He explained a lot to me and seemed to be impressed when I noted things off the website about the magazine, but unlike American Apparel, they did not expect me to have any previous knowledge about the corporation or anything.  He actually made the point that he liked people who had no experience in some cases because when they got experienced fashion interns, they thought they knew everything about fashion and style.
After the interview I picked up a a new v-neck tee and vest from American Apparel. Apparently what they like to hire at American Apparel is the most rude and nasty sales associates. Even the manager on duty seemed like an asshole. The associates were bickering for the longest time about who was going to pick the clothing off the wall so it could be rearranged. It took me a long time to get any employees attention and when I finally did the girl did not crack a smile. She acted as though getting the dressing room ready for me was one of the most annoying tasks in the world. None of the employees looked the least bit personable at all. If I didn't like American Apparel I would never go into one. No wonder they didn't want me to be a sales associate. They save it for the older, less mature, more obnoxious kind that will be sure to lower their sales 25%. I don't know a lot, but I know what customer service is, and I get better customer service at the Spanish Grocer at the end of the street.
Anyway, there are are some pictures of the outfit I wore to the interview AND some of the pieces I picked up.

wow thats a pretty awful experience with AA, the ones here are nice or seem to be mute & ignore you.

lovely interview clothes, and my fave is the second outfit. good luck with Flaunt Magazine, that would be pretty cool and better than retail perhaps.
