A Time For Art

So today my parents made a planned trip to upstate NY to see this little town Beacon, which is home to a large art contemporary art museum called Dia: Beacon. It was an absolutely gorgeous day for the trip and the Dia was amazing. It is full of huge installation pieces of which many were made exclusively for the space. The space was apparently an old industrial factory of sorts that was transformed into a large gallery in 2003. The town itself was very quaint and adorable. It reminded me of Fredericksburg, where I grew up, in many ways. It had a little coffee shop and second hand clothing stores.

We stopped by a restaurant in a little town on the way home. It was nice to be together as a family on a trip.
Later today me and the parents got me situated in my long awaited room. We decided that it was imperative that we paint the walls because of the bad condition they had been left in dues to sticky tack and other damage. We got that finished in good time and then moved most of my belongings into the room. Pictures of my room will follow shortly. I have included pictures of our country excursion though.
I did attempt picture taking in the museum even though it was strictly prohibited. I was not very successful when I noticed that my flash was still on. This museum had gorgeous surroundings and outdoor gardens. It was definitely an experience seeing the Andy Warhol shadow series as well. I will never forget that. I had such an exhilerated feeling, looking at the pieces that Andy had created. It was a great experience and I am glad that i had the opportunity to visit such a great place. I included as many pictures I could possibly. Anyway I have to sleep.
