Vashti Bunyan

I am starting to create an unhealthy obsession with Vashti Bunyan. Her folksy music is soo soothing and pure. Her voice is one of the most amazing sounds I have ever heard from a human being. Sigh. It's as though she breaths out and suddenly beautiful sounds follow. It is a little unhealthy but at the same time the more I listen to her music the more I am compelled to move to it and create something out of it in some way. It is very inspiring. I was watching a a youtube video of an interview done by the BBC with Vashti and she commented on how her music was not accepted at the time when she came out with "Just Another Diamond Day", but that now people are listening to Animal Collective, Joanna Newsome, and Devandra Banhart who she has recently worked with. She thought that she fit in with this new folk/indie scene in music better than when she first introduced her sound. I think that is very interesting, personally, because if I anything I would have assumed folk has no place in today's music scene. I understand her viewpoint thought.
